Early intensive therapy may slow disability in RRMS

New research findings have indicated that early intensive therapy can slow the progression of disability in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS).

Currently, there is no consensus on the best approach to the management of RRMS, said Dr Pietro Iaffaldano of the University of Bari Aldo Moro in Bari, Italy. Options include early intensive therapy (EIT) or standard-intensity therapy followed by escalation (ESC) to higher-efficacy disease-modifying treatment (DMT) as needed.
