Specialists have reported that muscle MRI can be useful for guiding the diagnosis of inherited neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) in a small proportion of cases.
The researchers, from centers in Greece, Portugal, Argentina, and UK, retrospectively reviewed muscle MRI data on 533 patients, performed at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Centre, in Newcastle, UK. The muscle MRI procedures involved T1-weighted and short-T1 inversion recovery (STIR) axial sequences of the lower limbs.
