Specialist highlights the importance of genetics in movement disorders

Early integration of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in the diagnosis of movement disorders can result in better outcomes, according to an expert presentation at CNS 2021. 

Dr Darius Ebrahimi-Fakhari from the Department of Neurology, Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts, USA, highlighted advancements in molecular genetics that serve as good diagnostic tools and treatment options in movement disorders. He also outlined the challenges in understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying rare movement disorders.
